RMP Competizione competed at the Spring Trophy races held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park May 10-12.
Early on Friday morning, testing was underway. RMP Competizione E46 m3’s and also our M235ir, tested for the weekend events.
Everything went well overall, with some slight tweaks to our setup, we were ready for competition.
Saturday morning, it was cold but dry. Practice went well after some small changes to the cars we were ready to qualify.
Qualifying had some tough competition, high horsepower Corvettes, Nascars and Nascar trucks. We were able to qualify an impressive 3rd overall in GT1.
Race 1 was held after lunch, with many battles between the top drivers in GT1, Rocco Marciello in the M235ir finished 3rd and Daria Khachi 3rd as well in GT3.
Race 2 was on Sunday morning, RMP Competizione ready to go with drivers Rocco Marciello, Johannes Tjiang, Daria Khachi and Bruce Wylie. From the start of the race, once again Rocco Marciello battled in the top 3 in GT1, Daria, Johannes and Bruce in GT3 were racing for the top positions. The race was very eventful. Rocco Marciello finished the race 3rd to the higher horsepower cars, and achieved personal best lap times in the M235iR. Daria Khachi 2nd and Johannes’s 4th in GT3.
Race 3 was held in the afternoon in rain. Before the race the cars were setup for rain. Suspension and aero were setup for best handling in the wet condition. The racing became tougher in the wet. John Hansen in his GT1 RMP sponsored and setup S65 E36 made his way to the front winning the race. Rocco Marciello held down his position to come 3rd in GT1.
Daria Khachi in his M3 won GT3 and Johannes’s Tjiang in his M3 3rd in GT3.
This put multiple RMP cars on the podium this weekend once again.
Our next event will be held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Victoria Day Speedfest held on May 17-19. Updates will be posted after the event.
