With some small setup changes to our BMW M235iR’s after the CASC race weekend, RMP Competizione was back at CTMP for the first round of CTCC.
The weekend started Friday with practice and qualifying. Drivers Rocco Marciello and Michael DelleDonne started the weekend great with consitent fast lap times qualifying at the top of the GT Sport class in 2nd and 3rd.
Saturday morning the first race of the weekend was held. Rocco Marciello started in 2nd and Michael DelleDonne in 3rd in GT sport. The race was very eventful, battling out with many TCR spec cars , Rocco ran in 2nd until a TCR car made contact with him. Michael was able to take over 2nd position finishing the race behind an AUDI R8 LMS V10. Rocco placed right behind Michael in 3rd.
We prepared the cars on Saturday evening for Sunday’s race qualifying.
Qualifying was held early Sunday. The session went well, Rocco in the M235iR had ran the fastest lap in the car so far with 1:25.3 putting him in second in GT Sport to the AUDI R8, and not far behind Michael DelleDonne in his M235iR in 3rd.
The final race of the weekend was late Sunday. With some small chassis setup and new tires, we were ready to go. The race started off well, Rocco and Michael racing with many TCR’S, the battle was tough.
Rocco pushed the car to the limit and had some engine misfires that resulted in limp mode, this forced him have to shut down and restart the motor mid race. This caused him to lose position to team mate Michael DelleDonne. Michael DelleDonne placed 2nd and Rocco Marciello in 3rd in GT Sport in the finale.
The weekend went well overall, we have taken the cars back to the shop and already started to prepare for the next up coming event at Calabogie Motorsport Park JUNE 1-2 in Calabogie, ON.
We would like to thank our sponsors, Fuch Oil, Molyslip and Pfaff BMW.
